This song came out of one of the most difficult moments I can remember.
Exactly a month ago today, while we were on tour in Hawaii, I woke up to the graphic and scarring footage of Charlie Kirk being assassinated. It was shocking and heartbreaking. Over the years, we’d shared a few stages with Charlie, and I was always encouraged by his boldness to speak truth and share the Gospel with conviction — even when it wasn’t easy or popular. At one event, he even went as far as calling us his heroes, something that deeply humbled and inspired me.
That night, as we performed “Valley of Decision,” the lyric “This is no game, people have to die in His name” suddenly hit me in a new way. I had to pause, take a deep breath, and let the Lord redirect the moment. What began as silence and prayer turned into two hours of deep worship. Somehow, through the grief, God began to stir something powerful.
In the days that followed, we started seeing signs of revival everywhere — churches filling up, people buying Bibles, spontaneous baptisms, and hearts turning back to God. It felt like a spark of something new… something holy.
Then, I received a message from our friend Kapena, one of Hawaii’s most loved artists and producers. He wrote:
“This past week at church, my uncle preached about how Charlie was similar to John the Baptist. The word planted the seed for this song in my heart. I wasn’t sure if it was hitting too close to home, but God just put it on my heart and I couldn’t even sleep. Then I saw your post about being friends with Charlie, and it blew me away.”
When I heard what he’d written, it moved me deeply. Within hours, I added a verse, chorus, and a Dancehall rap. The Lord used that writing process to help me process the loss — and to turn grief into worship.
“Martyr for Justice” isn’t about politics or sides. It’s about courage — the kind of faith that can’t be silenced. It’s about the hope that rises even when darkness tries to snuff it out.
Charlie’s death reminds us that persecution and hatred are real — not just here, but all around the world. Yet our response must be different. We don’t fight with anger or violence; we respond with prayer, love, and truth. As we sing:
“Like a seed that has fallen to the ground, new life it will yield — this is the turning point, the harvest field.”
My prayer is that this song brings healing, conviction, and hope — that it draws us closer to the heart of God and to each other.
Thanks for standing with us, for listening, and sharing!

Charlie’s Song (Martyr for Justice)
SONG LYRICS:
Words by Mark Mohr, Kapena DeLima and Jah Pickney
Like a voice in the wilderness
Crying out strong
Speaking the truth
In a world gone wrong
Like a modern-day prophet
Stand tall, don’t yield
Light in the darkness
The truth revealed
PRE-CHORUS:
He stood for the youth
The future to rise
Pointing out the system
And exposing the lies
They thought they had quenched
This spark but no
There was a fire in his spirit
Watch the story unfold
CHORUS:
Martyr for justice
In Jesus’ name
Like John the Baptist
Wrongfully slain
Martyr for justice
But his words stand strong
This war is not carnal
No, it’s a spiritual one
This is Charlie’s song…
Yo, he was a warrior
A good news carrier
A freedom fighter
Who sacrificed him life ya
With respect him a communicate
And di darkness him a illuminate
Gave them free speech and an open debate
And yet they traded it for murder and hate
For murder and hate
Murder and hate
For murder and hate
Murder and hate
So we demolish every argument and pretension
That sets itself up against the knowledge of God’s Son
The weapons that we fight with are not carnal
But are mighty for the tearing down the strongholds
Martyr for justice
For truth and rights
Destroy the darkness
Shine up your light, eh
Martyr for justice
Freedom and salvation
This war is not carnal
It is a spiritual one
This is Charlie’s song
One voice has fallen
But millions arise
The flame is still burning
It lights up the skies
Like a seed that’s fallen on the ground
New life it will yield
This is a turning point
The harvest field
(PRE-CHORUS)
(CHORUS)
Voice for the voiceless
Charlie showed us the way
They tried to stop him
With them violence and hate
Thought they erased him
But his legacy stays
Forever Charlie shall be known
For his courage and faith
Courage and faith (Repeat)
This is Charlie’s song
