The story behind “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus” is unforgettable.
A missionary to northeast India was commanded by head hunters to renounce Christ as his children, then his wife, and finally his own life were threatened. Each time, he refused: “I have decided to follow Jesus. No turning back… Though none go with me, still I will follow… The cross before me, the world behind me.”
His life was taken, but his declaration lived on, and generations later believers around the world are still singing these words.
For nearly four decades, there’s been one non-negotiable on every Christafari set list: the Gospel. We end our Gospel presentation by leading the audience through the Sinner’s prayer, declaring, “I have decided to follow Jesus. No turning back,” and recently began singing it a cappella with thousands across Melanesia.
We recorded this version with Ziza over several years and finally filmed the video in the Galápagos Islands, where a decades-long dream of preaching the Gospel there became reality - culminating in new believers being baptized after our outreach.
